17 June 2008 [17:08] - TODAY.AZ
"Director of the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety was not beaten", said the press service for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As is reported, information about pressure, imposed on Emin Huseynov, at the 22nd Nasimi district police station on June 14, was false.

"On JUne 14 the 22nd police station received information that an unsanctioned meeting was held in one of local cafes.  During the investigation, it was revealed that about 50 persons, who took part in the unsanctioned meeting, gathered there.

The police called on them to leave the cafe, yet they would not obey. Then the police detained about 20 people, including Huseynov.

After the warning, they were released. Huseynov fell down as he was quitting the station and later said he was beaten".

The press service reported that Huseynov was diagnosed with "neurotic reaction".

"The statement of his being subjected to physical pressure, was not confirmed. His declarations in the press about being beaten contradict each other".
