Editor-in-chief of Mukhalifat newspaper Rovshan Kabirli and newspaper correspondent Yashar Aghazade have filed a claim to the European Court of Human Rights, says a source from the Institute of Media Rights.
The claim states violation of articles 10, 6 of the European convention of human rights and the need to pay compensation to journalists.

It should be reminded that the journalists were sentenced to 2.5 years in prison by the claim of deputy, academician Jalal Aliyev. They were charged under articles 147.2 (defamation) and 148 (harassment) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

On December 28 of 2007 President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev passed a decree of pardoning prisoners, including editor-in-chief of Mukhalifat newspaper Rovshan Kebirli and newspaper journalist Yashar Aghazade.
