23 May 2008 [14:43] - TODAY.AZ
The main problem in Baku is the processing of waste water.
The due announcement was made by Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Baghirov.

He noted that the only cleaning system of the city locates in Hovsany.

"70% of waste waters flow into the sea and are absorbed by the soil. An expanded session was held under the President of Azerbaijan, who set definite tasks before Azersu. It was decided to make huge investments, estimated at billions of dollars. There is a plan to reconstruct the city sewerage, renew collectors outside the capital city and direct waste waters, flowing to the Baku bay, to the Hovsany cleaning system", said Baghirov.

According to the Minister, if within 2-3 years Azersu reconstructs or builds new cleaning system, it will be possible to prevent the flow to the sea.
