Representatives of the Ombudsman office have visited the investigation ward of the head department for combat with organized crime under the Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry due to the beating of Azerbaijani boxer Ramal Amanov, according to Ombudsman's office.

The investigation did not confirm information about Amanov's detainment in the investigation ward of the head department for combat with organized crime under the Interior Ministry.

At the same time, representatives of the ombudsman's office met with bronze prize winner of the Sydney Olympic Games boxer Vuqar Alekperov.

During the conversation, Alekperov noted that he is not subjected to torture or humiliation and has no complaints about the detainment conditions.

It should be noted that previously detained boxer Ramal Amanov announced that he was subjected to torture in the head department for combat with organized crime under the Interior Ministry.

Head of Azerbaijani committee Elchin Behbudov told Day.Az that he held a monitoring of the temporary isolation ward of the said department with his assistant, where he was told that Amanov was not brought there.

Moreover, he was presented a book, recording detention of people in the temporary ward and it did not fix information about Amanov's staying there.

Behbudov noted that practice showed that tortures against the detained are applied not in the wards but in the offices of the investigators. Therefore, he did not rule out that Amanov was subjected to torture in one of the offices of the head department for combat with organized crime.
