Leyla Aliyeva's initiative supported by OIC intergovernmental session

The meeting arranged by the OIC Youth Forum in cooperation with ISESCO, was attended by members of the governments, representatives of the Culture Ministers of the OIC states, diplomats, accredited in Turkey. Within two days, the delegates of the session have discussed such problems in the sphere of humanitarian disasters, as genocide, mass bloodshed and ethnic cleansing, committed against the civilians in the OIC countries in the 20th century.

Secretary General of the OIC Youth Forum Elshad Iskenderov told Day.Az that the session adopted a final communique and a report, developed by the arrangement organizers. February 26-Day of Khojaly bloodshed of peaceful residents is included into the list of dates, to be marked in the OIC countries as a Day of Memory of victims of humanitarian disasters. The session also included decision to reflect information on the Khojaly tragedy in the text books of the OIC countries to the plan of actions. Moreover, it was decided to raise the issue of recognition of the tragedy as a bloodshed and crimes against the humanity during a dialogue with regional parliamentary assemblies of Europe, Asia and Africa.

On the second day of the session, representative of the Alexandrian library Khaqar Ibrahim familiarized delegation with an international campaign "Justice of Khojaly is Liberation of Karabakh", initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, representative of Heydar Aliyev's Fund in Moscow and General coordinator of the OIC Youth Forum of Intercultural dialogue.

According to Iskenderov, during the presentation the session participants familiarized with the facts about bloodshed, committed by Armenian formations against the peaceful Azerbaijjani residents, as well as numerous photo messages, prepared by young activists from different countries in support of the campaign. Khaqar Ibrahim introduced information of "Human Rights Watch", a quote from the interview of the working Armenian President, evidences of western journalists, according to which the Khojaly bloodshed is a purposeful act, aimed at the mass terror and ethnic cleansing of the Azerbaijani population of Karabakh.

The session adopted a resolution, supporting L.Aliyeva's initiative, and included the decision on presentation of the campaign in the OIC countries to the plan of actions. The recommendations of the expert session will be presented for ratification at the annual session of the OIC Foreign Ministers (June 2008) and Ministers of Culture (2009).

The delegation were able to familiarize with the materials of the exhibition, featuring the campaign "Justice of Khojaly is Liberation of Karabakh", facts of Armenian bloodshed of the Turkish population of Anatolia, tragedy of Srebrenitsa and Palestine, prepared by materials of Turkey's history archive in the hall of the Grand Cevahir Hotel.
