Residents of Kurdemir, Azerbaijan hold protest demanding to stop pressure on Azadlyg newspaper correspondent Agil Halil

Residents of the Kurdemir region of Azerbaijan held a protest with a demand to stop pressure on Azadlyg newspaper correspondent.
Yesterday, a group of residents of Dayirman village of Kurdamir, Azerbaijan, held an action in the regional center with a demand to stop pressure on correspondent of Azadlyg newspaper Agil Halil, Day.Az reports with reference to Azadlyg radio.

The action participants announced that Halil was beaten and stabbed for fair announcements and a campaign had been initiated against him.

The action also involved residents of the center of the region.

"We have signed a declaration demanding from the authorities to put an end to the pressure on freedom of speech, press and independent journalism", said the action participants.

The action was dispersed by the law enforcement bodies.

Representative of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs Ehsan Zahidov noted that he had not been informed about the action.

It should be noted that Azadlyg newspaper correspondent Agil Halil comes from Kurdemir.
