Ganimat Zahid and other imprisoned journalists to join hunger strike initiated by Eynulla Fatullayev

According to Day.Az, the due announcement was made by director of Azadlyg newspaper Azer Ahmedov during the meeting of US Ambassador Anne Derse with Zahid's family.

"The Azerbaijani authorities ignore the appeals of western democratic countries demanding to settle the problems of political prisoners. G.Zahid also intends to join the hunger strike to draw attention of the world society to this problem", Ahmedov said.

In turn, Anne Derse said she does not regard the hunger strike as the way out of the situation.

"The settlement comes through a dialogue and only through a dialogue will the problem be settled. Democratic countries will call on Azerbaijani authorities to settle the problem", she said.
