Elmira Akhundova: "We have suggested to pardon a great many of people, who committed a domestic crime"

The due announcement was made by MP Elmira Akhunova, member of the Pardon Commission.

"Over 50% out of 250 appeals, considered by our commission, are connected with domestic crimes. In most cases, cousins, or a father and a son or two neighbors argued while being drunken and one hit another with a knife. Moreover, there are also a number of crimes on basis of family dignity", she said.

Akhundova noted that these person, who are not connected with criminal world, have to sit with jailbirds. She considers, that long years of neighboring with such persons, may influence them and these people may also join the world of crime.

"We recommend those who committed a domestic crime and served a half or more than a half of their term of imprisonment and if the suffering party does not have claims anymore", Akhundova said.

She noted that most of such prisoners are young people.
