Bizim yol newspaper correspondent sentenced to 6 years in jail

The Court hearing on the case of Bizim yol newspaper correspondent Mushfig Huseynov, who is accused of bribery, continued in Court of Grave Crimes.

It was presided by Judge Jamal Ramazanov.

The Public Prosecutor demanded 7 years for Mushvig and depriving of journalistic activity for 3 years.

Vugar Khasayev, Huseynov's defender, petitioned for acquittal.

Huseynov wanted a fair decision from the court.

According to the decision of the court, Huseynov was sentenced to 6 years in jail with depriving of journalistic activity for 2 years.

Huseynov was detained by officials of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan on 24 July.

Huseynov faced charges under Article 311.1 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

The journalist demanded a bribe from Rizvan Aliyev, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection for not publishing embarrassing articles about the Ministry.
