Eynulla Fatullayev to appeal to Supreme Court of Azerbaijan

An appeal on the case of the editor-in-chief of the Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Eynulla Fatullayev against the decision of the Baku Court of Appeal will be sent to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.

The due information has been provided by reporter's defender Isakhan Ashurov.

According to Ashurov, the appeal will be filed to the Supreme Court after the decision of the Baku Court of Appeal is delivered.

"I consider that the decision of the Court of Appeal is unjust", Ashurov noted.

According to him, they also plan to file a claim to the European Court of Human Rights.

It should be reminded that the Baku Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes against reporter E.Fatullayev. By the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes, Fatullayev is sentenced to 8.5 years of imprisonment. The editor-in-chief is charged under articles 214.1 (threatening with terrorism), 283.2.2. (mongering national, racial or religious animosity by abusing one's powers) and 213.2.2. (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code.
