Court decision on imprisoned reporter's case upheld

The court hearing on the case of the editor-in-chief of the Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper Eynulla Fatullayev in connection with the appeal against the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes finished today in the Baku Court of Appeal, chaired by judge Abid Abdinbekov.

The defender of the reporter Aydyn Nazarli said that the court upheld the decision of the first instance court on the case of his defendant.

It should be noted that according to the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes E.Fatullayev was sentenced to 8.5 years of imprisonment. The editor-in-chief is charged under articles 214.1 (threatening with terrorism), 283.2.2 (mongering national, racial or religious animosity by abusing one's powers) and 213.2.2. (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code.
