14 January 2008 [12:52] - TODAY.AZ
A report on the state of Azerbaijani youth has been prepared under support of the UNESCO office.

According to one of the authors of the report, political scientist Oktay Sadygzade, the report is analytical and covers almost all the spheres of the life of young people.

"By results of sociological polls and researches we have defined that unemployment and lack of funds for purchase of accommodation due to high real estate prices are the main problems of the Azerbaijani youth. The third place is occupied by bribery in the educational system and the fourth by the Garabagh problem. This specific "Five" is concluded by the material and housing problems of marriage", the political scientist considers.

The issue of the passiveness of the young people in the social and political life of the country is connected with the above mentioned problems. Sadygzade said the young generation of Azerbaijan is almost absent and passive in the politics. The factor of low quality education and social and legal protection of the young generation as well as unemployment plays a great role in this issue.

"Researches of the attitude of the young people to religion brought interesting data. 90% young people consider themselves to be religious, while 70% say they do not drink or use drug. At the same time only 9% young people under 30 years of age and 13% of over 30 years of age are religious, which means that they practice all religious traditions, and follow all instructions of their religion". the political scientist said.
