Azerbaijani woman rights activist awarded

The chairperson of the Women's Rights Protection Society Novella Jafaroghlu was awarded International Award for Women Bravery instituted by the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The award was presented by US Ambassador Anne Derse.

Ambassador said Novella Jafaroghlu has been working to protect women rights and propagate democracy for almost 20 years.

She also said women's role is very important in the development of Azerbaijan society as well as in other states. Quoting US Secretary of State, the US diplomat said though women achieved substantial successes much work is to be done.

Novella Jafaroghlu thanked for the award stressing the role of all women of the society in her successes.

US Deputy Secretary of State Department Paula Dobriansk sent a congratulation letter to Novella Jafaroghlu. APA
