Mine accidents killed 53 and injured 122 in Azerbaijan since September 2001

Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) detected 1,249,801 sq m Azerbaijan's territory and cleared from mines and UXOs in March, 2007.

27,848 mines and UXOs were neutralized, ANAMA press service told the APA. 46,596,766 sq m Azerbaijan’s territory was cleared from mines and 167,060 mines and UXOs were neutralized.

Three mine accidents were recorded in the country in March this year.

20-year old soldier Mail Hajiyev (Ismayili), 20-year old Mubariz Kamilov (Baku) struck mine in 3km of Armenian border with Sederek, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on March 24.

Fuzuli resident, Shukurov Serkhan struck mine and was injured on March 31, 2007.

According to the statistics, based on different sources 53 died and 122 were injured in 86 mine accidents in Azerbaijan since September 2001.
