Azad Rahimov meets England Olympic Committee member Lisa McHendry

Ministry's press secretary Ragif Abbasov told APA-Sport that Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee vice-president Chingiz Huseynzade also participated in the meeting with Sport Organization chairman Elias Massandrea, UNICEF London Office director James Shawn and Lisa Mchendry, member of England Olympic Committee and Organising Committee for 2012 Summer Olympic Games to be held in London. The parties discussed international social programme "Encouragement – 2012" in the frame of 2012 Olympic campaign.

"Several countries, as well as Azerbaijan, were selected as an experiment. World and European championships, rating tournaments which take place in Azerbaijan popularize it as a sport country. That's why England is interested in Azerbaijan. The experiments will be carried out in such countries," he said.

It was stated at the meeting that the project will be implemented in popular kinds of sports among junior sportsmen.

The delegation will acquaint itself with regions, big cities, sport complexes built there, climate and etc in order to determine the implementation of the project.

The main objective is to popularize 2012 Olympic Games in other countries.

The delegation stated at the meeting that sport constructions in Azerbaijan, and its candidacy to host 2016 Olympic Games makes both countries closer.

The guests promised to support Baku's candidacy to host Olympic Games.
