Azerbaijani Education Minister receives Latvian official

Azerbaijan's Education Minister Misir Mardanov today received Ina Gudele Latvia’s Minister for Special Assignments for Electronic Government Affairs.

Mardanov first got interested in the measures taken for providing information and communication technologies of Latvian schools.

Minister told the visitor that the second state program on application of technologies to education.

Speaking about the projects on application of technologies in Latvian schools Ina Gudele said that education connected with computers and corresponding subject is taught in Latvia in the sixth form. Pupils start learning initial skills in the first form.

Ina Gudele also said that they are working on the program of information and communication technologies covering qualitative education for 2007-2013. Latvian Minister underlined that the program covers access of schools to Internet, establishing multimedia laboratory and other issues.

Ministers exchanged views on establishing electronic libraries, using electronic aids and exchange of experience, the ministry's press service told the APA.
