Azeri Chess Federation makes statement condemning robbery in Mexico

Azerbaijani Chess Federation has made a statement that condemns Teymour Radjabov's being robbed in Mexico.

The statement demands the crime to be investigated and the culprits to be punished.

"They have stolen not valuable belongings but a personal computer holding personal data of Teymour. His numerous appeals were ignored. Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sport and Azerbaijani Chess Federation have sent a letter to International Chess Federation asking to investigate the premeditated robbery. The Federation will keep the focus on the investigation," the statement reads.

The statement regards the robbery committed against Teymour Radjabov who has a special respect in Azerbaijan and in the world as an disrespect to all chess elite.

"The robbery committed in the Linares tournament has harmed the image of the competition. We condemn such cases and call for the attention of countries hosting international competitions, because the organizers are responsible for the security of sportsmen," the statement says, APA-Sport reports.
