High ranked officer of Defense Ministry to begin hunger strike

07 February 2007 [10:05] - TODAY.AZ
Former assistant commander of Defense Ministry lieutenant colonel Rasim Muradov is going to start continuous hunger strike soon.

He told APA that Ministry hasn't responded to his appeal on demobilization from army.

"I am waiting for a response. I'll begin hunger strike if I don't receive answer in a few days. I have been serving for 21 years and I have right to be demobilized," he said.

He said that headquarters continue pressure on him to stop appealing.

Defense Ministry press service chief colonel Ramiz Melikov told APA that he is unaware of the appeals. He said that it is officer's own business to begin hunger strike.

"I don't want to make further comments on the issue," he said.
