Conference on the development of women entrepreneurship held

The development of women entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan: strategy and perspectives, was discussed at a conference in Baku.

State Committee on Family, Women and Children problems chairwoman Hijran Huseynova said there are good opportunities in Azerbaijan for the development of women entrepreneurship.

"8-9% of women are involved in small and medium-scale entrepreneurship, 3-4% function in the private sector," she said.

Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev said that the government does the best for development of this sphere.

"The State allocated AZN 80m for the development of this field this year," he said.

Vafa Afandiyev, chair of Women Entrepreneurs Association and Ziyad Samadzade, Parliament political standing commission chairman spoke of the perspectives of the development of women entrepreneurship.

Subjects of women entrepreneurship and gender problems, training for women entrepreneurs and use of ICT were discussed at the end.

The conference participants made an appeal to the President, APA reports.
