President Aliyev receives vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the delegation led by vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Andreyev.

Greeting the guests, Head of the Azerbaijani State estimated visit of the Russian men of science to Azerbaijan as landmark event, noting that the Academies of Azerbaijan and Russia successfully cooperate. "After collapse of the Soviet Union, our scientific ties did not interrupt," President Aliyev said, stressing necessity of strengthening and expansion of these links. "And this visit of Russian scientists is a significant initiative on this purpose," he underlined.

He also expressed consent with the existing level of cooperation in the field of science and education between two countries, made accent for their further deepening.

President of Azerbaijan said he is aware of the development of science in Russia that is known with its prominent scholars over the world. The President informed on concrete plans to develop science in Azerbaijan, in particular, taking care of men of science.

Vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Andreyev expressed gratitude for warm reception, saying Azerbaijani President is an example head of state from the standpoint of rendering assistance to science and scientists. He, in particular, reminded that President Aliyev is also a scientist.

Andreyev confirmed successful cooperation between the Russian and Azerbaijani scholars, noting their regular data exchange, use of the Russian language in Azerbaijan. AzerTAg
