600 million cubic meters of this polluted water runs into Azerbaijani section of the Caspian Sea, APA reports quoting Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry monitoring office chief Latifa Huseynova.

The office chief said there are over 20 cities on the Volga. Industrial wastes of these cities flow into the sea via the Volga. The polluted river waters contain more than 1000 harmful chemicals. "1.8 million cubic meters of polluted water runs to the Azerbaijani section of the sea per day through the Volga."

Ms. Huseynova also said Azerbaijan ranks last for polluting the Caspian Sea among other coastal states.
