Azeri Health Minister selected VP WHO Executive Committee

Health Minister of Azerbaijan Ogtay Shiraliyev by the proposal of European bureau, Luxembourg and Portugal representatives and unanimous voice of WHO Executive Committee representatives, was selected as vise-president of Executive Committee.

He will hold this position for the next two years, Health Ministry has told APA. It was informed from the Health Ministry that in 59th session of WHO to be held in Geneva from May 22 to 27, strengthening of preventive measures against bird flu, international donors' role in struggle with AIDS, reproductive health, discussion of 4 years report on nutrition of children, migration of healthcare employees from developing countries, WHO financial issues and current audits results have been discussed.

In WHO Executive Committee's 118th session to be held in from May 29 to June 1, review of 59th session, thalassemia and other issues, WHO strategical issues, issues of personnel and vacancy, WHO general director’s preparation issues to elections were discussed.
