State Social Protection Fund owes nothing to pensioners

02 June 2006 [22:38] - TODAY.AZ
State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) pays nothing to pensioners who were awarded supplementary payments.

Granting pensions was finished on May, 23 in the area of whole country. Salim Muslumov, The Fund's Chairman, has reported about in press-conference, APA reports.

Mentioning last pension increases on 1st April, Mr. Muslumov has said that 1126,432 pension files had been transferred from old system into new one so far. He has added that this is not the number of all grantees.

There is a certain difference between files for pensioners and the exact number of pensioners.

The number was about 1,179 million that time. 187,334 thousand of those pension files were of a special category. There were 210,359 thousand people of families of that category, including disabled people, 17,437 thousand of which were of I group, 13,734 of III group, 58 persons from the families of National Heroes and 16,104 from martyr's families.

Mr. Muslumov thinks that minimum level of pension granted in Azerbaijan may be called normal.

"Today minimum level of pensions in Azerbaijan is quite normal in comparison with neighboring countries. The minimum level of pension granted in Azerbaijan is around USD33,2, which is $9,53 in Armenia, $18,2 in Georgia, $77,9 in Kazakhstan, $7,2 in Kyrgyz Republic, $87,8 in Latvia, $72,1 in Lithuania, $101 in Estonia, $25,9 in Moldova, $38 in Russian Federation, $6 in Tajikistan, $15 in Uzbekistan and $71 in Ukraine."
