Azerbaijani population reaches 8.46 million

The State Statistical Committee told APA that 51.6% population live in the cities and 48.4% in villages. Men constitute 49% and women 51% of the total population.

The committee also informed that, out of the total number of the population, 24% are under 14-year-olds. 69% are between 15 and 64 and 7% are over 65. 18-34-year old youths comprise 29%, over half of those live in cities.

Besides, 37.7 thousand children were born and 13.8 thousand died in the reporting period. As compared to the last year’s corresponding period, for per 1000 people, the birth number has remained the same (18.4), number of deaths decreased from 7.1% to 6.7%. Under-one-age child death for every 1000 healthy births fell down from 9.9% to 9.7% in number.

15.1 thousand marriages and 1.9 thousand divorce facts were registered in the reporting period and ratio of marriages per 1000 people has increased from 14 to 15.1, divorce facts has declined a bit.
