More than half of water and sewerage system of Ganja to be renewed

"The governments of Azerbaijan and Germany are continuing negotiations on realization of a project on water and sewerage system rehabilitation in Ganja city. We believe that relevant agreements wi"l be signed soon," this explanation was given by the Chair of "Ganja Water Canal" OJSC Teyyub Jafarov.

According to APA, the credit to be in the amount of 36 mn euro will rehabilitate more than 53% of the water and sewerage system of Ganja currently being under exploitation. Besides, new water and sewerage lines will be constructed to the surrounding new settlements and places not supplied with water. 4 mln euro will be provided by the Swiss government, 4 mln euro by the government of Azerbaijan, and 28 mln euro by the government of Germany for the project.

Mr.Jafarov speaking about the project said that negotiations are underway, and added that there is no agreement on investment of capital at the present stage. According to his words, except 4-5 of 172 sub-artesian exploited in the city, all of them were put into operation in 1958-1988 and because their operating period ended, frequently unplanned repairs are implemented. It generates additional expenses in its turn.
