The event will bring together officials and non-governmental agencies working with children in conflict with the law, aiming to increase their awareness on domestic and international standards of juvenile justice and to identify ways for the improvement of the juvenile justice system in Azerbaijan.
According to AssA-Irada, a number of key officials and international experts will take part at the conference, including Jacob Doek, head of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, according to UNICEF office in Baku.
The conference is being organized jointly by the Azeri government, UNICEF, the OSCE, the British embassy and the NGO Alliance for Child Rights.
UNICEF's programs around the world cover education, health, water and sanitation and the protection of children. It also advocates with governments for inclusive policies, budgets, and programs to protect the rights of children.
