Complaints to European Court on Human Rights decreased

As of January 1, 2006, 1,050 complaints were received by the European Court on Human Rights from Azerbaijan, MP Rabiyat Aslanova, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis Permanent Commission on Human Rights, informs.

Aslanova stressed 800 complaints entered the European Court on Human Rights have been rejected, 150 are under consideration, 25 have been sent to representatives of the European Court on Azerbaijan. The MP also noted in 2005 the number of complaints from Azerbaijan decreased as compare 2004, Trend reports.

"If in 2004 this figure comprised 500, in 2005 it is equal to 250. Decision was made on 17 complaints. It means the situation in defense of human rights in Azerbaijan is under state control," she added.

Aslanova also underlined Azerbaijan excelled many countries of the world in the number of the complaints presented to the European Court on Human Rights. The MP also reported the total number of complaints received by the European Court was over 30,000.
