Arif Hasanov: "Quakes in Iran had no impact on Azerbaijan"

"The 29 March total solar eclipse did not cause any seismological activeness in Azerbaijan," the Head of Republic Seismological Service Center of National Academy of Science, Arif Hasanov stated.

According to APA, Hasanov said that in general solar eclipse could not cause seismological activeness.

Referring to strong quakes in Iran, the scientist said it's wrong to link the quakes with recent solar eclipse. Hasanov also said that the earthquake in the neighboring country had no impact on Azerbaijan.

He reported that the epicenter was about 800 km away from Azerbaijan. The head of the Seismological Center assessed the seismological situation stable in Azerbaijan.

6 magnitude earthquake happened in Lorestan province of Iran early morning yesterday, killing at least 50 people, injuring hundreds and damaging as many as 200 villages.

Deputy director of Azerbaijan's Seismological Center, Gurban Yetirmishli has recently said that the solar eclipse would cause some changes, including seismological activeness on Earth.
