"Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development" symposium held in Baku

Three-day symposium on "Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development" held in Baku under the preparation for the 14th meeting of the UN Commission for Sustainable Development completed yesterday.

Baku Declaration was adopted on the last day of the symposium attended by the Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Aliyev, Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev, and representatives of several embassies and international organizations, APA reports.

According to the Declaration, governments, development banks, UN organizations, regional commissions are recommended to assist energy efficiency and development, spreading and application of energy-protection technologies, allocation of more means for energy efficiency activities at national, regional and global levels, utilization of renewable energy sources in the oil industry and etc.

The participants of the symposium also visited the Sangachal terminal.

The symposium was organized by the Commission for Sustainable Development of the UN Department for Economic and Social Affairs and Ministry of Industry and Energy.

The 14th meeting of the Commission will be held in new-York after a month and information on the results of the symposium held in Baku will be provided at that meeting.
