Strong winds cause damages in regions

Sharp weather changes predicted for upcoming days.

Fierce winds caused damages in northern regions of Azerbaijan on March 9. Quba, Qusar and Devechi regions were the most sufferers from the winds. Electric supply to the regions was suspended as the hurricane crashed electric lines.

Local residents say they have never seen such furious winds in the region. Winds also blew roofs of houses and social buildings off and many trees were blown down.

Sharp weather changes are predicted in the whole republic since March 10. National Hydrometeorology Department under Ministry of Ecology informs strong winds and decrease in temperature will be observed. Speed of winds will reach 30-33 meters per hour in Baku and Absheron peninsula.

Umaira Taghiyeva, chief of the Hydrometeorology Department told ANS all relating institutions, ministries, state committees as well as local executive powers were informed about expected weather changes.
