Harazsti said that the expert on information issues to be appointed soon must be completely independent, well-versed and highly educated.

"He must be independent from government and political pressure. He must also be experienced in protecting freedom of speech," he said.

The Law On the Right to Information adopted at the end of last year has already become effective. Under the document, an expert on information issues is to be appointed in the first half of this year. The Milli Majlis is to select one out of three candidates nominated by the president.
