UN commissioner on national minorities to visit Azerbaijan

"There is no necessity for the adoption of the Law on national minorities," said MP Rabiyyat Aslanova, the chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission on human rights of Milli Majlis.

"The Azerbaijani Constitution also specifies a right for national belonging of each and every citizen. It provides every nationality residing in Azerbaijan to express the cultural variety," she told Trend.

In respect to the CE obligation on approval of the said law MP said that at the international organizations she mentioned the unanimity of the nations residing in Azerbaijan irrespective of language and beliefs which can be a model for the European states.

The chairman of the commission invited UN commissar on national minorities to Azerbaijan. "I want him to see with own eyes the equality of representatives of the national monitories," she stressed. "Moreover, the UN commissioner on human rights is also expected to come to Azerbaijan in a few months," she added.
