Teimour Radjabov defeats Veselin Topalov

The first round of the "Linares-2006" chess tournament of XX category is held in Morelia, Mexico.

As APA reports, eight of the top chess players, including Teimour Radjabov, are competing in this double round robin event. The first round is to be held in Morelia, Mexico and the second half in Linares, Spain.

After a one-day break in "Wimbledon of Chess" the fourth round was held. The award fund is 380 thousand euros.

Armenian Levon Aronian and Spanish Francisko Vallejo ended the match in draw. Peter Leko (Hungary) defeated Vasily Ivanchuk (Ukraine), and Peter Svidler (Russia) defeated Ettienne Bacrot (France).

Our national team leader Teimour Rajabov gained his first victory over Bulgarian World Champion Veselin Topalov. By this victory Radjabov is 1.5 points ahead Topalov, Bacrot and Vallejo. He will meet Valejjo in the fifth round.

Svidler and Leko are leading in the draw. Each of them scored 3.5 points.
