People cull out domestic birds in Fuzuli

14 February 2006 [09:05] - TODAY.AZ
Crows, wild geese and other waterfowls die out in liberated territories of Fuzuli.

Correspondent of APA in Fuzuli reports that domestic birds have also died from unknown diseases in some villages. Residents say vaccination has been ineffective. Samples haven't been taken and dead birds haven’t been burnt in some territories yet although region veterinary service was notified. Dead birds in rivers and lakes are not burnt. Fearing spread of bird flu virus, people living along the river Araz began to cull out domestic birds.

Wild geese and other waterfowls die out in flood-lands in the neutral zone bordering on Iran. Horadiz frontier group told APA that border veterinary-protection service disinfected all lakes in the neutral zone and took samples from dead birds.

Veterinary Service of the region told APA that inconveniences of the residents are groundless. Saying bird flu was not found in died birds, veterinary service couldn't explain the reason of the death of birds.
