Firudin Allahverdiyev: "I presented "Sari Gelin" as Azerbaijani folk song in Yerevan"

07 February 2006 [02:26] - TODAY.AZ
Master of Baku Musical Academy, composer Firudin Allahverdiyev participated in Jazz master class and concert held by Caucasus Peace Initiatives Center in Yerevan, capital of Armenia, from January 28 to February 1.

As APA reports, F.Allahverdiyev says: "I was invited as a guest from Azerbaijan, accepted the invitation and went. I had to play one Azerbaijani and one Armenian composition together with senior student of Yerevan Conservatoire Razmik Amyan. He didn't come to the concert without explanation. So, I came to the stage alone and played "Sari Gelin" folk song (Armenians claim it belongs to them), but previously had announced that "Sari Gelin" was Azerbaijani folk song".

According to Firudin Allahverdiyev, Armenian journalists asked the director of Caucasus Peace Initiatives Center Georgi Vanyan: "Why was an Armenian song announced as Azerbaijani one in the concert organized by you?"
He answered: "Azerbaijanis are also right in their claims as Armenians are".

The composer says, all Armenian TV channels brought up this incident and broadcasted those fragments of the concert.
