Caspian Sea level to raise up to 1 meter

According to the specialists’ prognosis, global climatic changes and atmosphere processes taking place in the northern hemisphere will bring to raising of the Caspian level additional 1 m, press-service of the Ministry of Ecology reports.

As a result of raising of Caspian Sea level within 1978-1995s, 400 thousand hectares of lands were flooded, 50 thousand of which fell at the territory of Azerbaijan (50 populated areas, 250 industrial enterprises, 20 km of railways, 60 km of motor roads). Damage caused to Azerbaijan economy made up $2 bln, AzerTAg reports.
