"Neftchi is probably to reach the final of the "Commonwealth Cup" without struggle," Andrey Malosolov, the representative of the press service of the Russian Football Union (RFU), said. He was commenting the refusal from the semi-final competition against Azerbaijanis by the Armenian Pyunik.
The Armenian team explained this decision with reasons of safety, Trend reports. The same time, the representatives of Punik did not comment the event and refused from contact with media.
"We were ready to offer additional guarantee to Armenian Pyunik at the match against Azerbaijani Neftchi, but it’s pity that the politic interfered in sports," the official press release, spread by the RFU says.
The message notes that the organizer of the competitions planned to place Armenian and Azerbaijani fans on the different parts of the stand. "Moscow police forces have great experience in such situations. Besides, the games of Neftchi and Pyunik followed by each other at the tournament and the fans met, but there was no any conflicts between them," Andrey Malosolov, underlined.
Meanwhile, Pyunik left Moscow and club's VP Karen Arutyunyan on the press-conference in Yerevan told the press that players were scared for their lives and living conditions in a hotel were awful.
But there is a question - why Arutyunyan gave this press-conference in Yerevan, but not in Moscow, where Organizing Committee's representatives could personally deny all the accusations?
