According to Yusif Bekirov, the head of the League, the report of government doesn’t reflect the real state of affairs in this case.
As he claims, in Azerbaijan the brokers that sell children to foreign citizens demand about $25-28 thousand for each.
Bekirov also pointed out that the punishment for trading children in our country is too soft: "In Azerbaijan the kidnappers are just imposed a fine of $300-400, but at the same time in the US they are sentenced to the life imprisonment."
Bekirov also noted that during the discussion on the League’s report in the UN serious remarks were aimed at the Government of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that according to the official information there are 13 cases of illegal adoption revealed and 23 people are instituted criminal proceedings on this fact.
