Repair of "Mushfig" substation to complete in 2007

The 220 kilovolt "Mushfig" substation supplying a big part of the capital of the republic with electric energy and to be repaired at the expense of funds of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be completely commissioned in 2007.

As APA informs according to the press-service of the Azerenergy Joint-Stock Company (JSC), JICA has already made a positive decision concerning a respective appeal of the Cabinet of Ministers on financing reconstruction of the substation and the mission of the Japanese organization monitored the "Mushfig" substation, determined the direction of the works to be carried out and prepared a final report in September, 2005.

The sides will discuss the schedule of the measures and issues concerning financing during the next visit of the Japanese experts to Baku planned to take place early in February of the current year.

According to the words of H.Abdullayev, the chief of the Electric Energy Transmission Office of JSC, JICA will disinterestedly fund modernization of the "Mushfig" substation. The amount of funds required for this project and volume of the works to be implemented will be announced and an adviser-company to prepare tender documents on financing the main contractor will be selected this year.

The Azerenergy official stressed that implementation of this project which includes replacement of two 200 megawatt transformers in the "Mushfig" substation with more productive (250 megawatt) transformers will be completed in 2007.
