More than 300 Hajji died in throwing stones at pillars representing Satan in Mecca

As a result of confusion appeared in the ceremony of throwing stones at pillars representing Satan more than 300 people died.

Hundred thousands of pilgrims gathered in Mina field on purpose of throwing stones at Satan had to wait in line in very hot weather for many hours, reports APA. Law enforcement bodies of Saudi Arabia face difficulty in bringing the crowd under control. As a result of commotions, more than 300 people died and hundreds of Hajji were injured.

Hajj pilgrimage claims lives every year in general. 400 Iranian pilgrims protesting against West were trampled and died in 1987 in Mecca and 1462 pilgrims were trampled and died in Mecca tunnel in 1990. 270 pilgrims died in the ceremony of throwing stones at the symbolic Satan in 1994. 343 pilgrims died as result of fire happened in the pilgrims’ camp in Mina in 1997. 119 pilgrims died in 1998, 35 in 2001, 14 in 2003 and 244 in 2004 in the ceremony of throwing stones. As Today.Az reported earlier one of Azerbaijani pilgrims passed away.
