Azeri archeologists discover 6-7 millenniums old settlement

Scientists have discovered the second ancient settlement on the territory of Agstafa district.

Researchers from the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Republic discovered an ancient settlement once located near the modern Boyuk Kesik railroad station in Agstafa district.

Institute's scholars already determined that the settlement was erected sometime in the period between V-IV millennium B.C. The discovered settlement is already the second in the Agstafa district. The first one – Shomutepe was discovered by scientists in 1960s.

The more throughout information is still unavailable since scientists did not complete the field work yet and discovered artifacts are waiting to be transported to the Institute for farther scrutiny.
