The government of Azerbaijan is preparing the plan of additional measures for solving the social problems of foreign citizens wanting to get refuge status.
APA was told by head of Department on problems of refuges and internally displaced people, migration and international organizations of the Cabinet Gurban Sadikhov. Stating that Azerbaijan government is closely cooperating with the UN Commissariat on Refugees, Gurban Sadikhov said that 20 foreign citizens have achieved refuge status in Azerbaijan so far. These people are the citizens of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and Turkey.
The department director stated that special “refugee center”will be built for the refugees in Goytapa settlement of Jalilabad region. “This center will solve their educational and health problems of these persons. We are in the intention of accelerating the registration and compensation of the citizens wanting to achieve refugee status from Azerbaijan government. The government provided allocation for the realization of these projects.”
