Psychiatry Clinic to be built in Baku

Psychiatry Clinic will be built in Baku for mentally sick people.
The draft of the Clinic is ready. The construction of the Clinic designed by the local architects is to be launched in nearest time. APA was informed of it by Agabey Sultanov-psychiatrist-general of the republic. According to hi m, the clinic will be 3- stored, with 50 beds, with large auditoria. The new Clinic that meets the modern standards will be constructed in the place of the old psychiatry hospital of one-storeyed. The Psychiatrist noted that, two big psychiatry hospitals in Baku are in bad conditions:"No psychiatry problem was said to be in former Soviet period. That was why the construction of psychiatry clinics was not included to the plan."

The construction of Psychiatry hospitals in the regions is not considered yet. A.Sultanov considers the Psychiatry hospitals in the regions to be in better conditions than the ones in Baku.

As for the statistics of the mentally sick people, the psychiatric stated that, 1-3% of the population in Azerbaijan is mentally sick as it is in the whole world. This number rises to 3%, sometimes declines to 1%:"Today, their numbers have increased. It is due to the life getting harder, decrease of the communication of people. That is why the people fell lonely. Loneliness always drives to neurosis."

A.Sultanov also added, the number of suicides has increased in Azerbaijan. If 2-3 persons committed suicides before, now the number has increased a little bit./APA/
