Heat in Baku could set new record

The current air temperature in Azerbaijan is above climate norm.

Gulshad Mammadova, Deputy Director of the National Hydrometeorology Department said that the air temperature was 4 degrees above the climatic norms on August 8.

Mammadova told APA that high temperatures recorded in the past few days is still dominating.

"Although the temperature exceeds the climatic norm, no anomalous processes are observed across the country. The recorded high temperature remains unchanged,” she said.

The air temperature in Baku and Absheron Peninsula was 40-41?C on August 8.

The Met Office forecasted that the temperature in Baku will be 35-40?C and 42 ?C in some places. The temperature in country's regions is expected to be 42-43?C.

In Nakhchivan and the regions of Central Aran, temperature will be 42-43?C , 30-34?C in mountainous and foothill areas", she added.
