Leyla Aliyeva joins presentation of “Goygol National Park” documentary

The “Goygol National Park” documentary was presented at the Nizami Cinema Center in Baku on December 30. The documentary was produced as part of the project “Nine wonders of Azerbaijan” of International Dialogue for Environmental Action Public Association.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva attended the presentation ceremony.

Aliyeva first viewed photos taken by the director of the “Goygol National Park” documentary, Igor Bishnyov, during the shootings.

Later, Bishnyov addressed the event and thanked Leyla Aliyeva for initiating the “Goygol National Park” project.

Reminding that the Goygol National Park was established in 1925, Bishnev said the film is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the reserve's creation.

He further informed the event participants about the shooting process of the documentary, and shared his impressions.

The aim of the “Nine wonders of Azerbaijan” project is to promote the beauty of Azerbaijan and drawing attention to the importance of its protection. The project stipulates shooting of documentaries about the nine national parks of the country.

Located some 4 hours way from the capital of Baku, Goygol is the prize of the Ganja region.

The large mountain lake, surrounded by the mountains of the Lesser Caucasus, was formed as a result of a devastating earthquake that destroyed the Kapaz Mountain in the 12th century.

The color and clarity of the waters of Goygol Lake, located 1,600 above sea level is striking. The banks of the lake are covered with forests and rich of flora and fauna.
