Azerbaijan sends humanitarian aid to quake-hit Kyrgyzstan

The Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry has sent a humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan in accordance with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s instructions.

The aid is sent in connection with a strong earthquake that hit Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Province.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Faig Tagizade and Kyrgyz Ambassador to Baku Ayjigit Buranov.

Twenty trucks will be forward to Aktau in Kazakhstan from Baku International Sea Trade Port on the ferry, after what it will be headed to Kyrgystan.

Tagizade said that the humanitarian aid valued at 1 million manats includes 19 tons of sugar, 19 tons of granulated sugar, 19 tons of rice, more than 8 tons of tea, 16 tons of vegetable oil, 38 tons of flour, 19 tons of vermicelli, 3500 sets of bed linen, 50 generators, 240 tents, 6,006 square meters of iron slate, 70 cubic meters of boards, 40 thousand meters of rails, more than 26 tons of gasoline, about 29 tons of diesel fuel and 195 stoves.

The Kyrgyz ambassador expressed gratitude to the president and people of Azerbaijan for assistance.

The earthquake has jolted the Central Asian country on December 7. The quake measuring 7.2 points on Richter scale hit Tajikistan, while tremors were also felt in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The epicenter of the quake was located 460 km away from Tashkent and 92 km away from Murghab district located in Tajikistan.
