An article about one of the ancient settlements in Azerbaijani territory - Khinalug village has been posted on the influential German internet-portal
Die Welt ( http://www.welt.de/print/welt_kompakt/debatte/article121581482/Eine-5000-Jahre-alte-Welt-fuer-sich.html).
Day.Az agency reports referring to
AzerTAg state agency.
The article notes that the Khinalug village is embraced by the Major Caucasus mountains not far from the border with Dagestan.
"Khinalug has 5000-year history. That is one of the ancient settlements in the world. Khinalug, inter alia, is considered the highest and most isolated village in Azerbaijan. It takes 3 hours to complete the 63 kilometers distance from the center of Guba region to Kihanlug"
The portal writes that the road to the village is bumpy and passes through mount peaks, rivers and waterfalls. "The village becomes almost out of touch due to snow and weather condition in winter. That helped the local people to fence themselves against invasions for many thousands of years. Nearly 2000 residents speak in their own language and wear traditional clothes as before" notes the article.
