No Azerbaijanis among victims of plane crash in Kazakhstan - UPDATE

Kazakhstan has denied reports of the presence of an Azerbaijani citizen aboard the plane that crashed near Almaty. This was told to Trend by Azerbaijani Ambassador in Astana Zakir Ghashimov, as well as by sources in the transport prosecutor's office of Kazakhstan.

Earlier it was reported that one of the victims of the plane crash, Akram Nizamov was a citizen of Azerbaijan.

According to Ghashimov, Nizamov was a stateless Uzbek. Nizamov purchased his ticket using his Kazakh residence permit, not a passport.

The hot line of the republican crisis center in Astana told Trend that a passenger of the crashed plane Akram Nizamov was born on August 4, 1977. Nizamov was of Uzbek nationality and had Kyrgyz citizenship. He had a residence permit in Kazakhstan.

On January 29, 2013, at about 13:00, a Chellenger-200 aircraft belonging to SCAT Airlines, operating flight ? 760 on its Kokshetau-Almaty route crashed 5 kilometers short of the runway in Almaty.

According to preliminary information, the accident was caused by thick fog.

Criminal proceedings are underway. An investigation of the incident is to be carried by the special government commission. 21 people were killed in the crash.

Azerbaijani Embassy in Astana is considering the presence of country's citizens aboard plane crashed in Kazakhstan, the embassy told Trend.

Passenger aircraft operating Kokshetau-Almaty flight with more than 20 passengers on board crashed in Almaty.

All passengers and crew members were killed.

The crashed plane belonged to the Scat airline.

The plane crashed near the village Kyzyltu of Almaty region.

According to preliminary information, the accident was caused by the heavy fog.

The wreckage of a plane was found near the farm located near Guldala village. The crash site is cordoned off.

Heads of prosecution, Linear Department of Internal Affairs on Alamty-1 station, airport representatives, Department of Emergency of Almaty and National Security Committee have left for the place of disaster.
