Azerigaz explains causes of high pressure in network

14 January 2013 [17:27] - TODAY.AZ
The strong flow of gas observed in the evening and at night is connected with an increase in gas volume supplied to the distribution system and increased pressure in it, SOCAR's Azerigaz Production Association told Trend today.

The production association said that the volume and pressure of gas in the distribution network was increased to provide consumers with a smooth and quality supply of gas.

"At present, volume and pressure are very high, one can say maximal," the association said. "This is all done to prevent consumers any problems with their gas service in winter."

According to the association, reducing the flow of gas in the evening is explained by a sharp increase in its consumption. "In the evening, gas consumption significantly increases. The reduction in pressure is explained by this factor."

Currently, more than 26 million cubic meters of gas per day are supplied to consumers compared to 22.5 million cubic meters on January 8. Around 15.3 million cubic meters of the total amount of gas supplied to consumers go to Baku and the remaining 11 million cubic meters are used in other regions of the country.
