'Issue connected with BP must not be politicized'

One cannot politicize the issue with BP, Speaker Oqtay Asadov said at today's meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

He said individuals want to politicize the issue. They do not understand the essence and write illiterate articles.

"The Azerbaijani President spoke about the production at the Azeri and Chirag fields," he said. "It is elementary that the forecasts must be implemented. However, forecasts and liabilities have not been implemented for three years. But to make show and to turn this into a political issue do not do credit to any Azerbaijani. BP will fulfill its obligations on oil production in Azerbaijan as it received a final warning."

While speaking at a last week meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development in the first nine months of 2012, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said the harsh mistakes of the bp-operated international consortium [the Azerbaijan International Operating Company] have led to a sharp decline in oil production on the Azeri and Chirag fields.
